The South Kolkata District Congress on Saturday held a protest demonstration in front of Jadubabu’s Bazaar in the Bhawanipur area, raising allegations of widespread corruption and institutional failure. Party workers and leaders gathered at the busy marketplace to voice opposition against what they described as a pattern of scams and political manipulation.
The protest targeted issues including religious polarisation, chit fund scams, cattle and coal smuggling, ration irregularities, corruption in teacher and municipal recruitment, alleged embezzlement of funds under the 100-day employment scheme, and the RG Kar case. Protesters also accused central agencies, including the Enforcement Directorate and the Central Bureau of Investigation, of complete failure in addressing these matters.
The Congress further alleged that Thursday’s developments were part of a coordinated strategy by the BJP and the Trinamool Congress to influence anti-incumbency votes. According to demonstrators, the ED raid and the Chief Minister’s visit were choreographed like a scripted plot, aimed at political gains rather than accountability.
